Vacation Planning

This jacket was a half off thrift find for seven bucks.  It's a Talbots that was well worth the $3.50 paid for it (it will look better once washed).  This is being packed for a Caribbean cruise set for the end of January.  The weight will be perfect for a traveling jacket, and the color a great choice for the warm climate.  The collar and cuff has a bright yellow pattern that makes it just a little fancier than the average denim jacket.

Flat Sacks Fifth Avenue slides marked $4.98 were half off and will be a great pairing for this piece.  This will be a comfortable casual look and it's not going to look at all cheap.  The expensive cruise will be close to free as an employee perk -- so it will be nice to be able to dress appropriately but not drop a lot of bucks.

The bright pink polo is going along too.  It's classic and a great match for the denim jacket.  It was three bucks at a thrift.  In season, the jacket sells new for $85. The shirt would be about thirty.  Having the set come in at under seven dollars is a very good deal.
Here's the ensemble paired up -- a complete thrift store mix.  The tote is very island-beach appropriate and was also just a couple of bucks.  This was a free-with-purchase piece that someone donated and the store put the type of price that it puts on all nylon totes.  Lilly Pulitzer items are very popular -- and often over-priced -- on auction sites.  It's always worth it to grab one if it's just a couple of bucks.  They pack a good fashion punch with their bright colors.

This pair of shoes was a good deal -- posted about last month.  The bright color will also be great for vacation.  These will most likely be worn to dinner and around the ship.

They look cool with the other thrift finds that will come along. The Vera Bradley tote was a great second-hand bargain too and has been on many trips.  The pink and green pairing just seems to scream vacation.

Cheap vacations are the Microcosm way -- we get them for nearly free, and we manage not to spend a lot of money preparing for them as well.  None of these items sold for more than five bucks a piece.  We'll have a champagne vacation on a beer budget for sure.

  1. Well, I have to say not wearing pants certainly keeps the cost per outfit low, LOL.

    1. Not to mention it will scare everyone on the cruise so we'll have the boat to ourselves!

  2. Great finds, lots of good colors too. The only things I bought retail this year was a coat (difficult to find a decent warm one second hand), underwear, bra, socks and 2 pair of skinny jeans that were almost thrift store prices at Costco (I desperately needed them at the time). What are your ports of call on your cruise?

    1. That's a question for Breadwinner. I just plan to follow him around when the time comes! However, we're leaving out of San Juan, and hitting places like St. Kitts, Curacaos. Basically islands around the Caribbean Sea. The first cruise we went on was Celebrity, this time it's Royal Caribbean, which I understand is much nicer. Can't wait!
