Loving Lunch

Lunch is a meal we eat together at the Microcosm.  The Big Guy works less than a mile from home, and makes the trip back around 2:30 every day.  These days, he's looking to control his caloric intake, so a healthy wrap is usually on the menu.

One large tray of thighs goes a long way in this house.  Four are pulled out to feed raw to the pup.  The rest are prepared in the Souse Vide.  Two will become a meal that night, the others will be set to cool then cut into strips for wraps or other meals.  Last week, the tray of thighs cost only about five bucks.

The bones are saved to make broth.  This broth is being used for the dog.  It cooks for a day or more in a small crock and after it has cooled, the entire batch is liquefied in the Vitamix.  It's then stored in jars in the fridge.  We give the pup a good portion of it daily with a mix of supplements.  This is part of our plan to boost her immune system and help her supplements digest.  She gets her serving at noon.

Every Microcosm meal is healthy and frugal and nothing goes to waste!
