Lunching Along

Daily lunches continue to be served to the boys working on the house.  This meal was creamy potato soup, made from a bag mix, along with grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.  They love Mrs. Murphy's picked veggies, so that was served as well.  Dessert was rice krispee treats.  There is enough ham and cheese left for a quiche -- which will have broccoli.  The cheese sandwiches were brushed with an egg and ranch dressing mixture, which upped the yum factor.  The meal was a success.

The back of the house is looking good.  The west side is sided too.  Window frames still need to be covered.  A new attic vent was installed, which meant a little adjustment inside.  As a thank-you for the lunches, the boys also removed excess insulation from the attic.  A prior owner had over-done it on the insulation and it has been a mess.  Six bags were removed today and put in the dumpster.  At least another six still need to go.

One reason to remove the excess insulation, is so that the soffit vents will work.  There used to be just a few square vents.  Now there are many new holes drilled out which will vent through perforated panels in the soffitting.  This will be more effective at cooling the attic in the summer and keeping ice from forming on the roof in the winter.  In moving from wood to vinyl, this new technology could be employed -- another positive point to the upgrade.

Hopefully, the job will be done within two weeks.  There is still a lot to be done, and more money to fly out of our bank account, and ten more meals to be prepared.  At least we will have the peace of mind of a job done right, and people well fed!
