Toy Surgery

We consider mangled and mutant dog toys part of the decor at the Microcosm.  Running Bill originated in the late 1990's and has been kept alive as a result of many toy surgeries.  Piggy was a Christmas present in 2017, for which top dollar was paid.  She was supposed to be indestructible.

A lot of debate goes into a toy purchase.  Spending more to get a toy that should last longer seems to make sense -- especially when said toy is $21.00.  We are usually disappointed.  In less that an year, piggy has lost an ear and has also suffered the loss of a limb.  She does retain most of her original stuffing.
Bill lost a lot of stuffing through his hip a few days ago.  That was an easier operation to correct than the restructuring of the pig limb.  We do still want to keep him running.

Bill is actually luckier than Piggy, since he still has use of all four extremities.  They are both squeaker-less now, which is a blessing in disguise.

The mauler can be forgiven since a couple of rainy days in a row and a few days without mommy left her bored.

Buying new toys makes little sense when they're only going to end up mangled.  Re-structured, repaired toys make for interesting conversation pieces and we consider them an enhancement to our interior decoration.

OK, that's part rationalization and part truth!

  1. Goodwill or any other thrift store is a good place to buy stuffed toys for your dogs, if they aren't too rough with them. Just check out the toy section.

    1. I will have to check, I never looked close enough and assumed they were all human toys. Those would not hold up to my destructor!
