A friend that carves a pumpkin each year always calls to see if we want the guts. The answer is always YES!!! Pumpkin -- seeds and all, are super healthy for dogs. Since the pup gets a serving of veggie slop every night, a huge batch of orange sludge goes to good use. She's been eating it for weeks!
The guts in their original form aren't very useful. They need to be ground up. Enter the Vitamix. This bag of slimy goodness was mixed with apple cores and peels left from baking pies. An oil blend of EVOO and Sunflower oil, plus a couple of ounces of Apple Cider Vinegar add to the flavor add nutritional value. Teddy always needs as much fat as possible for her coat.
This batch was a big one, five jars were stored in the freezer. It's not unusual to augment an open jar. If veggie/fruit scraps turn up during the week, they are whizzed and added to the mix.
Our girlie never gets sick of this stuff and we are always willing to take in donated scraps for her enjoyment.

I like all sort of seeds to snack on.

We always use the pulp from pumpkins and squash for the pup. I haven't yet mastered roasting them myself. Anything that doesn't taste right doesn't need to get thrown away because Teddy will eat anything!
