The Trailercosm

Our trailer is set on a leased spot and never moves.  We are able to store it over the winter for a nominal fee.  This saves a lot of money as we don't pay a monthly fee at a storage facility, and we don't have to tow it -- which means it doesn't need to be registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles.  Each winter, we go visit to check on it.  We want to be sure it's making it through the winter without any catastrophes.  Each year, we bring home all of the linens to launder. They'll be returned on this trip in order to save car space for the weekend we re-open.  This year, everything looked fine.

The trailer is always surrounded by snow.  This year, there was more than last year, and some years, it's been thigh deep.  It's almost always bitter cold!

We are the only people who are allowed a permanent spot on the front row facing the lake.  The place is empty in the winter.  Since no water can be on, and the drive is not plowed, the front row is a lonely spot!  The cliff erodes each year, but we won't know the full affect of that until the spring.

We love checking out the point -- the lake is massive and beautiful no matter the season.  There are two light-houses and this is the one on the harbor leading into Great Sodus Bay.  It's impossible to get to this time of year, and anyone who tried to, would be placing themselves in great danger.  But it is beautiful to behold -- even on a gray day.

We are definitely looking forward to camp season but also enjoy our winter trip out to check on thigs.

    1. Even when money was tight, we didn't want to give it up because we'd never find something like it again!
