Save by NOT Shopping as Much

We used to shop at CVS weekly, matching up specials to coupons, using weekly in-store discounts, etc.  Once in the smaller house, there wasn't enough room to stock up on the bargains found.  Retirement meant spending less each week anyway.

The upside to the practice of shopping less, is that CVS sends us more and better offers to get us back in the store.  A cache of coupons made this purchase possible.  Nearly $80 of product for $18!

These were the items -- most of them free.  The toothpaste was the only thing that amounted to a cost -- fifty-nine cents.  Of course, we paid tax on the full purchase price, but the cashier commented "What did you do to get so many awesome coupons all at once?"  The answer was that we stopped  shopping for a while!

There were sale items that we didn't have a coupon for, like these Arm & Hammer detergents for $2.49.  Whenever sensitive skin detergent is on sale, we will  buy -- often disregarding whether we have any sort of coupon or extra discount.

The Ivarest was on a 75% markdown.  TBG asked why we needed four.  He'll change his tune next summer when we're at camp and he has an itchy bug bite.  We'll have one for home, one for camp, and one to bring with us if we are away from home. In addition to poison ivy, this helps any skin irritation -- especially sores that weep.  Hello, we have a dog that gets hot-spots, and this is sure to help if something crops up!

Another reason CVS isn't a weekly stop, is that there just isn't enough time to continually shop.  Most of all, if we don't shop for another three or four week, better coupons will be coming our way in the mail.  As per many things, in this case, less is more.
