No Sew Saturday

A set of swivel stools came with the house. They are part of the kitchen island.  While they don't get a lot of use, we still rely on them.  Company seems to congregate around the island, so having chairs available helps.

A large olive oil spill messed up one of the seats.  The gunk was quickly cleaned up, but there was no way to completely eradicate the stain it left behind.   TBG doesn't like these chairs at all -- and isn't particularly fond of the island either.  His wife is too cheap to replace them.

Recovering the seat pads was an easy Saturday project.  The fabric was on clearance at Joanne, and set us back just seven bucks.  The only tools needed were scissors, a screw driver, staple gun (plus staples), a pencil and some string.  TBG helped with the stapling and screwing the seats back on.
The two turned out rather nicely.  The fabric isn't perfectly centered because we realized that using the existing screw-holes when reassembling wouldn't work.  The screws weren't grabbing.  Instead, they were both mounted on the diagonal, so it's not a big deal.

Here's what an entire stool looks like.

This set will stay in service until we renovate the kitchen -- hopefully next year.  There's enough fabric left over to maybe edge some towels.  For certain, some of it will be used to patch TBG's jeans!

  1. Great fabric choice, they look really groovy now!
Kitchen islands are so American, they don't exist here. xxx

    1. Thanks! Our old house had a big kitchen table, which I really preferred, but we have a dining table so close by that it would be redundant. My main goal is to have enough work surfaces -- a real challenge these days.

    1. It would have probably been more conscientious of me to take off the original seat pad and cover, but we were lazy. I am glad you like the way they look. It was worth the seven bucks!
