My Little Trailer Garden

Some of our camp neighbors go to great lengths to embellish their spots.  We like to liven the pad up a bit but don't go overboard.  I have two pails by the front door -- one on each side of the steps.  These are filled with rocks and soil, weighted so they won't tip over in the stiff winds coming off the lake (up to 75mph at times!).  There is usually an herb and a flower, decorative rocks and some sort of kitsch in each pot.  This one has our elf and a small glass globe that you can fill with water and stick into the soil.  Mr. Elf is surrounded by marigolds and rosemary.

This bucket has basil and marigolds, and my little dog statue sits in front of it.  The big rocks from the lake are there to help keep the pot in place too.

These plantings get a lot of sun.  A friend who resides at the park full time does come down to water them during dry spells.  Right now, that's not a problem.  She is also welcome to snip any of the herbs she needs.   We do use the basil and rosemary when we cook our meals.

Teddy loves her spot under the table.  I use Bronco spray (a pest deterrent, made for horses) under the table.  I'll also spray it on her if she is wet -- flies love a wet dog!  The only caveat is that we won't use it within a week after applying her topical flea/tick preventive.

I do see my baby looking older in this picture -- the lighter color on her face is getting more prominent these days.  She has camped with us here in the summer for her entire life.  It's one of her favorite places, and ours too.  While we don't go overboard, it is nice to have a tiny garden to liven the spot up.

    1. Teddy's Aunt June helps us out with the watering.... and is mighty unhappy if one of us comes up without Teddy!

    1. She won't willingly get in a crate, but the same space under the table? No problem!

    1. I think I spent under eight bucks on both pots this year. Teddy is also very good at getting her lead tangled around the table legs!

    1. We've been using them for four or five years now too. They just get dragged under the trailer in the winter. I clean them out in the spring, add some new potting soil, then plant new annuals.

  7. Great idea with the buckets - so nice to have a few flowers there and someone who assists with watering them when you aren't there

    1. The buckets were actually cheaper than planters! We figured plastic would crack and ceramic would break. They've worked out really well.
