Camp Site Nightmare

We love our RV campsite and know how lucky we are.  Our spot is the only seasonal space on the water.  The campground now only rents those spaces to transients.  RV'ing and keeping a full seasonal spot has gotten so popular that it's difficult to find a space anywhere along the Great Lakes. Our park has a 51 person waiting list!  If you are thinking to buy and RV to lease a long term spot, find and reserve the spot first.  And even if you're traveling and staying short term, there are things you can do.  Number one? When you stay somewhere, be a good neighbor.  The images posted today illustrate what you shouldn't do!

Most parks have quiet hours, but that doesn't mean you should feel free to be as loud as you want during the non-quiet hours.  Take a cue from folks around you.  If the park is quiet, no one will appreciate your loud music or carrying on.  Being drunk can be fun -- if you're the one who is drunk.  For others, not so much.  And that mess you make when you're drunk can wait until tomorrow or when you're feeling up to it.  Only if you're inconsiderate, that is.

Staying up late to hang out around a campfire until three in the morning has it's charm -- but those in other spaces won't appreciate your drunken chatter.  Even if your music is off, sound carries at night out in the sticks.  While you're sleeping in and sleeping it off, no one around you wants to wake up to this.  People who camp at beautiful rustic sites just don't want to see garbage, tables over-turned and empty coolers.

Most people RV to see the country and meet new people, not to get drunk.  The type of camper I'm describing today gets it all wrong.  And chances are, their name will be red flagged in the campsite's reservation system so that they won't be able to make a repeat reservation.

On a more pleasant note, I suggest checking out a good friend's travel blog.  These friendly folks made their maiden voyage out to our park.  They are now touring the country and having a blast, seeing beautiful sites, meeting wonderful people -- and behaving just like conscientious RV'ers should.

    1. We are on a high windy cliff, so it makes no sense to me that they'd leave this stuff out. In the second image, it shows that on their concrete pad, there is an over-turned table. I mean... really??? I've seen other campers drop their dog's poop in people's fire ring.
